We all love taking selfies and it has become a trend over the years to capture self portraits to let others know where we are at all times. Infact selfie is more than just a picture. It tells a story and carries lot other metadata with it. Though sometimes it seems annoying, but while travelling (specially when you are going solo), taking a selfie is a far better choice instead of asking strangers to take our picture. And once you master the art, the only one you need to rely on is yourself. 🙂
So grab your phone and take your “That-Perfect-Travel-Selfie” with these few tips!
1 Use a Wide Angle Camera
Use a wide angle camera to pull more of the landscape into the picture.
2 Use a Selfie Stick or GoPro
Use a selfie stick to get a nice far shot, though a GoPro is much more durable, compact, easy to use, waterproof and made for capturing action on-the-go
3 Give Genuine Expression
Try to avoid fake smile, be genuine in your pic and express what you feel at the moment!
4 Experiment with Your Pose
Try experimenting with your pose with various props and gestures to make it look unique.
5 Highlight the Background
Keep your self in the corner of the frame and highlight the background so that you will get a nice view of the place you are at.
6 Play with Your Angle
The usual consensus is holding the camera a bit higher than face level (possibly to 45 degrees) with tilting your head on a slight angle can create a sleek selfie. But you can always experiment with the camera angle and face ratio.
7 Use A Timer
If you thought using a timer while taking selfies is too unsual, you are wrong. You can use the timer to automate the entire process. This also comes in handy when you travel solo and don’t have a tripod to click a perfect picture of you with the destination and you mind bothering a stranger.
8 Know Your Light
Just as too little light can harm your picture, excessive exposure to light can equally damage the frame. But this rule applies not only to selfies but for all sort of photography. Make sure your frame has the perfect exposure to light .
9 Use a Photo editor
It is not always possible to click with perfect exposure and we thanks Adobe to save us from our miseries and gifting us Photoshop and Lightroom. Though there are plenty of other popular photo editting tools available which you can try and make your selfies look more beautiful
10 Take Your Friends
Though selfies are fun, groupfies with your pals can make your heart and your picture happier.
